Sting recently elaborated on his decision to perform numerous high-risk maneuvers during his final in-ring tenure with AEW. In an interview with Adam Bernard of ScreenRant.com, the veteran performer shared his desire to deliver an uncompromised effort throughout his AEW run.
“I didn’t want fans thinking I was just phoning it in,” Sting stated. “I wanted them to say, ‘Wow, he’s going full throttle all the way to the end.’ And that’s exactly what I did.” This mindset led to memorable moments involving balcony dives and table spots.
From his AEW debut in late 2020 until his retirement match at Revolution in March 2024, Sting frequently teamed with Darby Allin. This period, following a WWE career many believed had concluded due to injury, saw him adopt a more hardcore wrestling style.
Now retired from active competition, Sting continues to engage with fans. He is scheduled for various convention appearances, including being the first announced special guest for WrestleCon during WWE SummerSlam 2025 Weekend.
