For the first time since stepping away in 2022, the tag team of Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay, known as The IInspiration, made their return to the ring this past April at a Prestige Wrestling event. The duo recently broke their silence on their comeback in an interview with The Takedown on Sports Illustrated.
Their return was the culmination of a lengthy preparation period. Jessica McKay revealed that they had been honing their skills since last October at the Flatbacks Wrestling School in Orlando, which is operated by Shawn Spears and Tyler Breeze.
“It was absolutely incredible to get back in the ring at Prestige this past April. It had been three years since Cassie and I had teamed up, and we were ready. We’ve been training since last October at Flatbacks, and we immediately started thinking about gear and how to make this run better than ever. We’re having so much fun and want to keep that momentum going.”
Following their independent wrestling reappearance, The IInspiration made a surprise return to TNA at the Against All Odds event. They followed that up with a victory over Brittnie Brooks & Missa Kate on the June 13 episode of TNA Impact, which marked their first official match for the promotion since their departure. Cassie Lee explained the decision to come back to the company they last worked for.

“TNA just felt like the right place for us. When we stepped away three years ago, it was from TNA. We had such a great experience there — amazing people, amazing talent — and we were able to grow so much. It only felt right to come back. Now is the perfect time. We both have our families established, and stepping away to start our families was so meaningful. We’ve loved every moment with them.”
The move has since been solidified, with recent reports confirming that both Lee and McKay have signed short-term contracts with TNA. Their focus is committed to the promotion, which is looking to strengthen its Knockouts tag team division.
The conversation also addressed the ongoing partnership between TNA and NXT. When asked about the possibility of making an appearance for their former brand, McKay acknowledged the significance of such a moment.
“We learned so much during our time in NXT, and the women’s division there is incredibly talented right now. Going back would definitely be a full circle moment for us.”
