The wrestling world is buzzing with theories about Drew McIntyre’s anticipated WWE comeback, with mounting evidence suggesting a possible partnership with The Rock upon his return.
McIntyre hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since his May 2025 defeat against Damian Priest at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Sources confirm the Scottish wrestler is currently recovering from undisclosed injuries during this extended absence.
“I like him as a babyface. I just do. He’s that Scottish Warrior. He’s Braveheart, modern-day version of it,” commented Eric Bischoff in post-event discussions. “I could listen to him cut promos all afternoon. I just love his stuff. He’s so good.”

The speculation gains traction from McIntyre’s existing collaboration with The Rock outside WWE. The two have worked together on “Project Rock,” where McIntyre leads the campaign, creating natural chemistry that could translate to WWE storylines.
The Rock’s current faction, revealed at this year’s Elimination Chamber, already includes John Cena and musician Travis Scott. Wrestling analysts suggest McIntyre could logically join this alliance, especially with Cena’s rumored impending retirement.
WWE creative appears to have the perfect opportunity to execute this angle, given McIntyre’s prolonged absence and established fan support as a babyface character. The timing coincides with The Rock’s ongoing faction-building narrative on WWE programming.
