Scott’s absence after WrestleMania—including skipping Backlash while attending El Clásico in Barcelona—fueled speculation about his WWE future. His initial involvement drew criticism, with Bully Ray remarking on Busted Open Radio that Scott avoided taking a retaliatory strike from Rhodes:
