A monumental championship match was made official during the June 9 edition of WWE RAW, reigniting one of the most storied rivalries in modern history. John Cena is now scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against CM Punk at Night of Champions on Saturday, June 28, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The main event segment of the broadcast featured the champion, John Cena, who addressed his recent victories over competitors like Cody Rhodes, R-Truth, and Randy Orton. Asserting his dominance as “The Last Real Champion,” a moniker he adopted after defeating Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, Cena demanded a worthy opponent step forward for his title.

In response, CM Punk made his way to the ring, launching a verbal assault on his old foe. Echoing his famous “Voice of the Voiceless” persona from their 2011 feud, Punk declared his intention to take the championship from Cena to prevent him from “ruining wrestling.”

Cena accepted the challenge but with a specific condition: the match must take place at Night of Champions in Riyadh. The stipulation adds a complex layer to the narrative, as it compels Punk to compete in a country he has previously criticized, though reports have indicated his participation in a Saudi Arabian event was planned months in advance. The confrontation marks the first scheduled singles match between the two in 12 years, with their last encounter occurring on an episode of WWE RAW in February 2013.

The segment did not conclude before another major player made his presence felt. Seth Rollins, the current holder of the Men’s Money in the Bank briefcase, appeared with his faction to remind both Cena and Punk that he could cash in his contract for a title opportunity at any moment.

While the announcement has generated significant excitement, it is coupled with a sobering reminder for Cena’s fanbase. The match at Night of Champions further reduces the number of remaining dates on his ongoing retirement tour. Initially having 21 dates left before the Money in the Bank premium live event, Cena’s appearances there and on last night’s WWE RAW have decreased that number to just 19, signaling that his career is rapidly approaching its planned conclusion.
