Update on WWE’s Plans for Evolution 2

The on-screen build for the upcoming all-women's Evolution PLE is set to begin, with major plans reportedly in place for the July event.

The on-screen build for WWE’s all-women’s premium live event, Evolution, is reportedly set to kick off this week on television. The event, officially confirmed during the May 24 broadcast of Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXIX, is scheduled for July 13 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

With the show taking place in Atlanta, a significant spotlight is expected to be placed on hometown star Jade Cargill. According to a PWInsider report, a key promotional strategy involves positioning Cargill in a prominent role to energize the local market and boost ticket sales for the July 12-13 weekend, which also includes Saturday Night’s Main Event XL.

Early discussions over the weekend pointed towards a major showdown between Cargill and the new Ms. Money in the Bank, Naomi. This potential clash has gained traction following Naomi’s recent heel turn and her capture of the briefcase this past Saturday. In recent media appearances, Naomi had already expressed interest in a stipulation match with Cargill. Following her big win, she reiterated her goals on the WWE Post-PPV Show, stating she wanted to face Jade before eventually cashing in on the champion, Tiffany Stratton. The creative direction for a match of this magnitude, featuring two top-tier superstars, presents an interesting challenge in determining a winner.

Adding more star power to the event, WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella is scheduled to appear on tonight’s episode of WWE RAW. Her return is tied to the upcoming premium live event, and she is expected to have significant involvement in the show.

A Card Loaded with Potential

The revival of the Evolution brand, first held in 2018, signals a renewed focus on the women’s division, and plans appear to reflect that ambition. A report from WrestleVotes in mid-May indicated that creative discussions had also considered a marquee match between Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill for the main event.

Further reports from late May suggested that WWE was looking to enhance the card by inviting talent from partner promotions like TNA and AAA. This initiative would align with the company’s recent collaborative efforts and could create unique, first-time matchups for the all-women’s showcase.

However, the announcement of the event has been met with mixed feelings backstage. A Fightful Select report from June 1 revealed that while many performers are excited for the opportunity, there is also discontent. Several wrestlers were reportedly unaware of the event until the public announcement. Logistical concerns were also raised about the event’s proximity to a Beyoncé concert in Atlanta on the same night, which could affect attendance and travel costs, with some fearing that any resulting negative impact on the show’s success could be used to argue against future all-women’s events.
