WWE Airs Mr. Iguana Video Package on RAW

WWE signaled significant interest in breakout star Mr. Iguana, featuring the AAA luchador in a video package on this past Monday's episode of WWE RAW.

WWE appears ready to capitalize on its newest viral sensation, Mr. Iguana. During the June 9th episode of WWE RAW, the company aired a dedicated video package showcasing the charismatic AAA luchador and his puppet sidekick, La Yezca, signaling that his recent appearances were just the beginning.

The move follows a breakout weekend for the reptilian star, which began at the WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event on June 7. There, he teamed with Aerostar and Octagon Jr. in a victory over Lince Dorado, Dragon Lee, and Cruz Del Toro. While the match was filled with high-flying action, it was Mr. Iguana’s unique personality and comedic charm that stole the show.

His connection with the audience was so immediate and overwhelming that WWE officials made a last-minute decision to feature him in the crowd during the Money in the Bank premium live event later that same night, where he received one of the largest ovations of the evening. The appearance subsequently became one of the company’s most-liked social media posts of the weekend.

The positive reception was mirrored backstage, where Mr. Iguana reportedly impressed WWE talent and officials, who praised his professionalism and described him as a “pleasure to work with” throughout a demanding promotional schedule. This has led to a significant internal push, with one NXT source indicating that they are actively lobbying for him to be featured on the brand.

WWE is also moving quickly on the commercial front. Mr. Iguana’s T-shirts were reported to have sold “exceptionally well” over the weekend, with sales figures comparable to those of the recently returned R-Truth. The company is already discussing an expansion of his merchandise line.

During the post-show press conference, Triple H commented on the luchador’s widespread appeal. “I never knew iguanas were so much fun… I think kids are gonna want iguanas everywhere,” he stated.

While it remains to be seen how he will be integrated into storylines, the showcase on WWE’s flagship program suggests plans may be developing beyond NXT. Following his successful weekend, Mr. Iguana fueled the speculation himself on social media, telling fans, “I’ll see you all soon.”
