The first championship match for WWE’s returning all-women’s premium live event, Evolution, has been solidified, and NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne now knows the difficult road her next challenger must travel. The path to the title opportunity was announced during the June 10th broadcast of NXT on The CW.
The announcement from NXT General Manager Ava came moments after Jayne successfully retained her championship against Lainey Reid. Jayne secured the victory with considerable assistance from her Fatal Influence allies, Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx.
Following the match, Ava revealed a plan to identify a definitive number-one contender: four singles matches will occur on the June 17th episode of NXT. The winners of those respective bouts will then advance to a Fatal 4-Way match one week later, on June 24th. The victor of that high-stakes contest will earn the right to challenge Jayne for the NXT Women’s Championship at Evolution on July 13th.

This new challenge continues a turbulent period for the champion. Jayne captured the title by defeating Stephanie Vaquer on the May 27th edition of NXT. Her championship celebration on June 3rd was cut short when a significant portion of the women’s locker room stormed the ring, resulting in a massive brawl that underscored the number of competitors eager for a title shot.
