WWE Goldberg Retirement Match Location Update Emerges

Goldberg gives major clue for his 2025 WWE retirement match location, possibly Atlanta; Gunther's involvement unconfirmed.

The prospective setting for Goldberg’s WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) retirement match has been narrowed, with the performer indicating a strong preference for a location “in the South,” a detail shared in a MySA profile piece published Friday, heightening speculation for a 2025 farewell bout in a city like Atlanta.

Goldberg, in discussion with MySA, elaborated on his choice, stating, “It’s going to be in the South. This gives me the opportunity to put a stamp on my career in front of the people I care the most about.” This geographical preference strongly suggests Atlanta as a leading candidate for the 58-year-old’s final contest. His connections to the area are substantial: Goldberg played collegiate football for the University of Georgia in Athens, was a member of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, and was famously billed from Atlanta throughout his professional wrestling tenure.

The commitment to this final performance is evident, as Goldberg revealed to MySA he has been in dedicated training for the past four months. These preparations include consistent monthly sessions at Black Diamond Martial Arts, located near his residence in Boerne, Texas. Furthermore, MySA reported that Goldberg has secured a degree of creative input regarding the public announcement strategy for the eventual match date, which remains unset but is slated for sometime in 2025.

A potential precursor to this retirement storyline occurred at WWE Bad Blood 2024, hosted at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. During that show, an interaction between Goldberg and Gunther took place, fueling talk of a possible confrontation. However, it remains unconfirmed whether Gunther will indeed be the opponent for Goldberg’s concluding match.
