An update regarding the WWE status of Asuka indicates the former champion is still sidelined from in-ring competition following an injury sustained in 2024, with her WWE return not expected to be imminent. This information comes from a recent report by Fightful Select.
According to Fightful Select, the injury Asuka suffered last year was significant, leading WWE officials at the time to anticipate she might miss the entirety of 2024 and potentially WrestleMania 41. While creative pitches for her return have reportedly been made in recent months, there was no serious consideration for her making an appearance at WrestleMania 41 in April 2025.
Asuka’s last televised WWE match occurred at the Backlash premium live event in France during 2024. In that contest, she and Kairi Sane, then competing as The Kabuki Warriors, lost the Women’s Tag Team Championship to Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair.

Her tag team partner, Kairi Sane, was also out of action for several months following an attack attributed to Pure Fusion Collective in December 2024. Sane made her return to WWE RAW during the previous week, competing in a Money in the Bank qualifying match against Zoey Stark and the eventual winner, Rhea Ripley.
Earlier speculation had suggested a possible May 2025 return for Asuka, perhaps following the Backlash event on May 10, 2025. This was partly fueled by her name appearing in some early WrestleMania 41 promotional materials and discussions around creative storylines. However, these anticipated plans did not come to fruition, and her return has been further delayed.
Asuka is still officially listed on the WWE RAW roster and remains affiliated with the Damage CTRL faction. There has been backstage discussion, according to reports, about potentially reuniting Asuka with Kairi Sane as The Kabuki Warriors upon her return to challenge for the Women’s Tag Team Championships.
