WWE Made a Big Mistake Involving Charlotte Flair, Says Former WWE Writer

Former WWE writer Vince Russo criticizes the company's promotion of Charlotte Flair's comeback, suggesting they deliberately showcased her wealth instead of highlighting her injuries.

Charlotte Flair returned to WWE at the Women’s Royal Rumble on February 1 after a 14-month absence due to injuries. Despite winning the match, Flair faced crowd resistance when performing as a babyface, quickly showing villainous tendencies in response to fan reactions.

Former WWE writer Vince Russo discussed this situation on Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Outlaws. He questioned WWE’s decision to highlight Flair’s luxurious lifestyle in pre-return video packages rather than focusing on her recovery from significant injuries.

What did they do, Chris? Oh, they showed her on a yacht. She’s got all this money. We talked about it. We didn’t get that. That’s why, Chris, they miss the mark so many times. I always think they’re setting people up because it was so easy what they could have done.

Russo suggested that WWE missed an opportunity to generate sympathy by not properly emphasizing Flair’s recovery from ACL, MCL, and meniscus injuries. Instead, he believes the company’s decision to showcase her wealth created distance between the 14-time champion and the audience, potentially setting her up for the negative reception she received.
