Gunther captured his second World Heavyweight Championship on this past Monday’s episode of WWE RAW from Phoenix, Arizona, but the nature of his victory over Jey Uso has left the door open for further conflict. The shocking title change, which ended Uso’s reign at 52 days, concluded when Gunther applied a sleeper hold, causing Uso to pass out and forcing the referee to stop the contest.

While the “Ring General” is officially the new champion, the fact that Jey Uso never verbally submitted or tapped out creates a significant point of contention.

The finish was particularly ironic, as it mirrored the very same sleeper hold submission that Uso used to defeat Gunther for the title at WrestleMania 41 on April 19. The inconclusive ending to such an intense rivalry could provide RAW General Manager Adam Pearce with grounds to intervene.

A Decisive Rematch on the Horizon?

Due to the chaotic conclusion, a scenario could unfold where Pearce forces Gunther into another title defense against Uso, possibly at the upcoming Night of Champions event. The core of the argument would be that Jey Uso never quit the match, and therefore the issue between the two competitors remains unresolved.

To prevent any further ambiguity, this potential final encounter could be billed as an “I Quit” match. Such a stipulation would add a definitive and brutal chapter to their rivalry, ensuring one man must verbally surrender to end the feud once and for all.

However, this angle remains entirely speculative, as nothing has been officially confirmed by WWE. With other potential challengers like Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn also in the picture, Gunther’s championship path has several possible directions.
