Gunther vows that on Saturday, he’ll expose Jey as nothing more than a passing trend.
Jey fires back, acknowledging that everything Gunther said might be true. He might be a mascot, but the fans are his team, and they’ll be right there with him on Saturday when he takes the title. Jey says he respects Gunther, but after Saturday Night’s Main Event, the champion will respect him too. Suddenly, Kevin Owens interrupts.
Owens makes his way to the ring, carrying his Winged Eagle Championship. Sami acknowledges Kevin’s arrival, saying he always knew this moment would come. Kevin admits he was upset when Sami sided with Roman Reigns in the past, but eventually, he realized they’ve both had their own journeys. Just as Sami forgave him for his past actions, Kevin says he forgave Roman too—because that’s who Sami is, a good guy. With that said, Kevin calls Sami his best friend and says he fully deserves to win the Royal Rumble and headline WrestleMania for the World Championship.
Kevin reminds Sami of the magic they created when they won the Tag Team Championships in the main event of WrestleMania. Now, they have the chance to face each other for the World Title—if Owens can retain his championship at Royal Rumble. Kevin confidently declares that they’ll both shine in the Rumble, having each other’s backs. “We’re like brothers. I know that if I need you, you’ll be there,” Kevin says before leaving the ring. The segment ends with Jax being escorted backstage by officials, while Ripley remains uncontrollable at ringside.
