WWE NXT is set to hold an event at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. This reported scheduling, brought to light by WrestleVotes, places the NXT show, slated to air on The CW Network, just one week before AEW commences a previously announced multi-week residency at the same venue.
AEW’s engagement at the 2300 Arena is planned to encompass several broadcasts. The series of events will begin with AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, August 27, followed by AEW Collision on Saturday, August 30. Subsequent AEW Dynamite episodes are scheduled for Wednesday, September 3, and Wednesday, September 10. The run also includes AEW Collision on Saturday, September 6, a special taping of AEW Collision on Thursday, September 11, and will feature the ROH Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view on Friday, September 5.
This scheduling by WWE NXT occurs within a context where AEW President Tony Khan has recently commented on what he views as WWE’s pattern of counter-programming.

He characterized WWE’s approach as a consistent form of head-to-head scheduling, drawing comparisons to the competitive environment between WWE and Jim Crockett Promotions during the 1980s.
Khan expressed a belief that the current situation would differ from that historical rivalry, confidently stating, “this will go a lot differently than that did.” He also pointed to other instances, such as WWE planning to run Saturday Night’s Main Event and the Evolution event during the same weekend as AEW’s All In Texas on July 12, 2025. Despite these scheduling overlaps, Khan voiced assurance in AEW’s product and its continued success.
