The conversation around WWE’s deep ties with Saudi Arabia has taken a significant turn, with speculation now including the possibility of a future acquisition. Former WWE talent Stevie Richards brought the topic to the forefront, suggesting that the nation could eventually purchase the company.
This speculation is rooted in the powerful business alliance WWE forged with Saudi Arabia as a component of the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative. The partnership has already resulted in a series of lucrative premium live events and recently secured a historic deal to host the 2026 Royal Rumble in Riyadh, the first time the event will occur outside of North America. Richards pointed to Vince McMahon as a key figure in building this relationship.
Speaking on his podcast, The Stevie Richards Show, he elaborated on the potential for a sale.

“He (Vince McMahon) still has, I believe, a strong connection to the Saudis. But they may take over WWE or buy it, say in the next 30 years for the 2030 thing they’re trying to do,” Richards stated.

This long-term ownership discussion coincides with the company’s immediate plans in the region. WWE personnel travel to Saudi Arabia this week for two major broadcasts, starting with the June 27 episode of SmackDown and culminating with the Night of Champions premium live event that Saturday.
The SmackDown card features a trio of high-stakes championship contests. Tiffany Stratton will defend her Women’s Championship against Nia Jax in a Last Woman Standing match. Zelina Vega’s Women’s United States Championship is on the line against Giulia. Additionally, The Street Profits are set to defend their Tag Team Championship against the imposing Wyatt Sicks.
According to internal sources, the company is proceeding with the tour while closely monitoring the ongoing political tensions within the Middle East.
