The powerful opening chords of “Kingdom” and the subsequent “Whoa!” from the crowd have become synonymous with Cody Rhodes’ presentation in WWE. As the company continues its push to own the music used by its talent, questions have emerged about the long-term security of Rhodes’ iconic entrance theme.
During a recent backstage Q&A session, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp addressed the speculation, assuring that the theme is not in jeopardy. Sapp explained that Rhodes’ current standing in the company and the song’s importance to the live experience make it highly unlikely WWE would force a change.
I think that guy has enough pull to avoid that. It’s such an integral part of his presentation and the WWE presentation in general. Like, you wanna go there and do the ‘Whoa,’ you wanna listen to the song, all that good stuff. I think that would be really bad.
Sapp did, however, clarify that the decision would ultimately rest with Rhodes himself, underscoring the creative control the top-tier star possesses.

Now, if he wanted to change it, I’m sure that it would be changed, but I would be shocked if they changed that one. Be very shocked.
This level of influence aligns with recent reports regarding WWE’s overall booking plans for Rhodes. Despite suggestions from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and some mixed crowd reactions during his feud with John Cena, WWE has no immediate plans for a heel turn. His value as a top babyface, reflected in strong ticket and merchandise sales, has solidified his position. Some within the company reportedly viewed the idea of turning him into a villain as the “worst idea possible.”
The company’s commitment to Rhodes’ heroic persona is evident in his current storyline. Following a tag team victory with Jey Uso at Money in the Bank, Rhodes entered the King of the Ring tournament for the first time. He is now scheduled to face his recent tag team partner, Jey Uso, in a semifinal match on tonight’s episode of WWE RAW.
