Iyo Sky’s WWE SummerSlam Challenger Possibly Revealed

A backstage exchange between Women's World Champion IYO SKY and Asuka may have revealed the planned championship match for SummerSlam.

A backstage segment on a recent WWE broadcast appears to have revealed significant plans for the Women’s World Championship match at SummerSlam. The interaction involved the current champion, IYO SKY, and her former Damage CTRL stablemate, Asuka, seemingly setting the stage for a future title bout and potentially spoiling the outcome of the Queen of the Ring tournament.

The exchange began with SKY expressing her desire for Asuka to win the tournament, which would lead to a match they had previously discussed.

“…they will finally be getting the match they used to talk about when they were Damage CTRL members,” SKY stated.

Asuka acknowledged their past association was over but appeared to accept the future challenge. In her response, she confirmed her intention to face the champion at the upcoming premium live event.

“[We] are no longer the association… meet SKY at SummerSlam,” Asuka replied.

The champion concluded the segment by stating she would be waiting for her. This conversation is pivotal because the winner of the Queen of the Ring tournament is guaranteed a world title match at SummerSlam, which takes place on August 2-3 at MetLife Stadium.

With Asuka scheduled to face Jade Cargill in the tournament finals at Night of Champions, this direct interaction with the champion strongly implies that Asuka is planned to win the crown. The segment effectively functions as an early build for a major championship encounter between the two Japanese stars at one of WWE’s biggest events of the year.
