In a dramatic turn of events during the main event of the June 9 episode of WWE RAW in Phoenix, Gunther defeated Jey Uso to become the first-ever two-time World Heavyweight Champion. The Ring General reclaimed the title by forcing Uso to pass out in a sleeper hold, the very same maneuver Jey had used to capture the championship from him at WrestleMania 41.
The highly anticipated rematch saw Jey Uso enter at a considerable disadvantage, evidently nursing injuries to his midsection sustained just two days prior at Money in the Bank. Gunther relentlessly targeted Uso’s taped ribs throughout the contest. Despite a valiant effort, which included a near-fall after a signature Uso Splash, Jey could not overcome the challenger. The match concluded when Gunther countered another splash attempt, locking in a sleeper hold with a body grapevine that rendered Uso unconscious.
Jey Uso’s championship reign, which began after his victory in the 30-man Royal Rumble match last February led him to his triumphant moment at WrestleMania, concludes after 51 days. The briefness of his time as champion has drawn comparisons to the short title runs of other fan-favorites like Big E and Kofi Kingston.

With Uso no longer holding the championship, questions about his future have emerged. According to a report from Cory Hays of PWN, there have been internal discussions within WWE about reuniting The Usos later this year. The end of Jey’s world title run could pave the way for this new storyline direction.
A reunion would see one of the most decorated teams in WWE history back together. Throughout their careers, The Usos have secured multiple tag team championships and hold the record for the longest WWE Tag Team Title reign of all time.
However, a significant hurdle remains, as Jimmy Uso is currently a member of the SmackDown roster while Jey Uso is on WWE RAW. While speculation also suggests the rivalry with Gunther could extend to a third match at SummerSlam, the prospect of a tag team reunion presents an intriguing new path for the former champion.
