WWE's Ambitious Post-AAA Acquisition Plan Revealed

WWE has acquired Mexican promotion AAA and reportedly plans a series of live events in Mexico, culminating in a major “SuperShow.”

WWE’s Ambitious Post-AAA Acquisition Plan Revealed

WWE significantly expanded its international presence with the announcement during WrestleMania 41 of its majority ownership acquisition of the Mexican wrestling promotion AAA. Founded in 1992 by Antonio Peña and Konnan, AAA is a prominent name in global professional wrestling. This move signals a deeper investment in the Lucha Libre tradition.

Following the acquisition, Triple H addressed the development at a post-WrestleMania press conference on April 19th, as reported by Fightful. He described it as an “exciting opportunity” and emphasized a commitment to nurturing Lucha Libre, stating, “We want to make sure that not only exists, but continues to thrive and continues to grow.”

Triple H further elaborated on WWE’s intentions, expressing his admiration for the Lucha Libre style. He clarified there are no plans for a “massively revamp anything,” aiming instead to “keep traditional Lucha Libre as traditional Lucha Libre within that world and just help it to grow.”

Complementing this acquisition, reports from WrestleVotes indicate WWE is organizing multiple live events throughout Mexico. These events are expected to lead to a featured “SuperShow Mexico,” though specific dates and the host city are still being finalized, reflecting WWE’s growing focus on the Mexican market.
