Concerns arose for Drew McIntyre’s wellbeing following a harzing landing during WWE Backlash’s opening United States Championship match. The Scottish Warrior appeared to miss the protective table when taking Damian Priest’s South of Heaven chokeslam from an elevated platform, with his head and upper back absorbing significant impact on the concrete floor.
While Triple H later reassured media that McIntyre was “a little banged up but totally fine,” PWInsider reported the former WWE Champion received immediate medical attention backstage. The incident occurred during McIntyre’s intense brawl with Priest, which took them throughout the Enterprise Center before the dangerous plunge.
The match ultimately saw Jacob Fatu retain his title with unexpected assistance from Solo Sikoa and debuting star Jeff Cobb.
WWE typically conducts concussion protocols and further evaluations after such high-impact spots, though no official injury diagnosis has been disclosed. McIntyre’s condition will be closely monitored as WWE prepares for upcoming European tour dates.
