MJF heaped praise on Mark Davis during a recent interview with Late Night Grin, naming the member of The Don Callis Family as one of the best in pro wrestling today.
The now-former AEW World Champion, who usually avoids labels like “overrated” or “underrated,” decided to make an exception when talking about the Australian.
“I don’t think people talk about Mark Davis enough,” MJF said. “How’s that? I think Mark Davis, and he’s getting his flowers, but he’s not getting enough flowers. That dude is next f*****g level. He’s probably one of the best big men in the sport right now. Not probably, I take that back, he’s one of the best big men in the sport right now.”
MJF went on to speculate that if Davis had been given the same opportunities as Kyle Fletcher, the landscape in AEW could be different, since his former Aussie Open partner had much more room to grow as a singles wrestler.
“That’s another reason I think he’s underrated,” MJF said. “I think if Mark Davis was given these same platform as Kyle was, or if the roles were reversed even. If Kyle got first…who’s to say? I mean, they’re both so talented. Tremendously different performers and athletes, and looks. But they’re both so great. And they both connect in very different ways through very different ways.” h/t Wrestling Inc.
Davis has had a career marked by injuries since 2023, spending about 18 months out of the ring between 2024 and 2025.
The Don Callis Family, meanwhile, is going through a turbulent stretch. Fletcher was forced to vacate the AEW TNT Championship earlier this month due to a meniscus injury.
