Nick Khan made it clear that WWE does not plan to change its creative direction because of criticism on social media.

During an interview with Sports Business Journal, the WWE President was asked what level of fan backlash would be needed for the company to alter its plans.

He said the following:

“We will never respond to social media criticism again if ratings are down, if revenue is down, if relevancy is down.”

Khan said WWE takes concrete indicators into account, rather than the reaction from a louder portion of the internet. His comments come at a time when the company has faced criticism over excessive advertising, high prices, and certain creative decisions involving major events.

The executive also revealed that a meeting was held last year with Triple H, Chris Legentil, and Shawn Michaels, where WWE discussed the need to accelerate the next generation of talent.

According to Khan, the company understood that John Cena was on his retirement tour, The Rock would return to filming movies, CM Punk was already 46 years old, and several major names were over 40.

Michaels’ suggestion was to take those talents on the road so they could be tested in front of live crowds.

As we previously reported here at Wrestling Noticias, Khan denied that WWE changed its plans for Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and The Rock at WrestleMania XL because of online pressure.
