A bizarre story involving WWE legends backstage at the first WrestleMania recently went viral on social media, but has now been completely debunked.
Erica Nicole Clark, comedian and daughter of the legendary Mr. T, claimed during a stand-up set for the “Don’t Tell Comedy” series that Hulk Hogan had brutally assaulted “Rowdy” Roddy Piper in a hotel room after the 1985 event.
According to Clark, Hogan was high on cocaine and threw Piper against the wall when he went to apologize, breaking a mirror. Hogan’s alleged fury was supposedly retaliation because Piper had fractured Mr. T’s ribs during the historic main event, in which the duo faced Piper and Paul Orndorff.
However, journalist Dave Meltzer completely dismissed the truthfulness of these claims on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
“Piper wrote books, he talked about it repeatedly. Hogan also talked about his stories repeatedly. The few physical fights Hogan had are super well-known.”
Although the real backstage friction between Piper and Mr. T is a widely documented fact and recognized across the industry, the two professionals managed to put business above personal issues at the time.
