Cody Rhodes has pushed back against criticism of The Miz’s ability in the ring.

Rhodes raised the subject while speaking with Chad Gable on the latest episode of his What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast. Their conversation moved into the different ways a wrestler can deliver, with Rhodes pointing to Miz as someone who has repeatedly succeeded on his own terms.

“Anytime somebody sits with me and tells me, ‘Oh, I don’t think Miz is a good wrestler,’ get the fck out of here. You! Get the fck out of here. Because he’s done it, right? And it’s all different types. It’s fun, variety, entertainment. It’s the wrestling, wrestling. If you can do it, and you did it once, you can do it again…”

Rhodes’ point went beyond praising one kind of match. He argued that pro wrestling has room for comedy, variety, character work and a more traditional in-ring style, and that Miz has already shown he can work across that range.

This was not the first time Rhodes had spoken highly of Miz. WWE previously released a clip from an episode featuring Miz in which Rhodes called him one of the best ever, continuing a public defense of a performer whose work has long divided some fans.

Miz’s WWE résumé gives Rhodes plenty to point toward. He is a two-time WWE Champion, an eight-time Intercontinental Champion and WWE’s first two-time Grand Slam Champion, with major programs spanning nearly two decades on the main roster. His WWE title wins came through Money in the Bank cash-ins against Randy Orton in 2010 and Drew McIntyre in 2021.
