Cody Rhodes’ next Undisputed WWE Championship defense is set to be a rematch against Gunther on the June 19 episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Kansas City, Missouri.

The title defense has not been officially announced by WWE, but it was set up during Friday’s SmackDown at the Unipol Arena in Bologna, Italy.

It began after Gunther opened the show by demanding justice for his controversial loss at Clash in Italy. At the event, Rhodes retained the title after the referee failed to notice that “The Ring General” had his foot under the bottom rope during the count.

Rhodes agreed with Gunther’s complaint and even offered him a rematch in Bologna. However, Sami Zayn interrupted the segment, which led to a major brawl, and the match did not take place on the same show.

Later, Nick Aldis told Rhodes that Gunther would accept the rematch for two weeks from now, but would announce a stipulation for the match next week on SmackDown. Rhodes then agreed to those terms.

Rhodes then agreed to the terms.
