Cody Rhodes does not appear ready to move on from his rivalry with Gunther.
After retaining the Undisputed WWE Championship at WWE Clash in Italy, held Sunday, May 31, at Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy, the “American Nightmare” made it clear he would accept a rematch.
The match opened the premium live event and ended after Rhodes hit Gunther with Cross Rhodes before scoring the pinfall. The issue is that, during part of the count, the “Ring General’s” foot was under the rope, which normally should have stopped the pinfall.
During the event’s post-show, Rhodes admitted he did not see it in the moment, but said he saw everything on the replay.
“I think it’s important because I know you’re going to ask me about it and I know everyone saw it. I didn’t see it in the moment. I definitely saw it in the replay. If Gunther wants a rematch, I’d do a rematch with Gunther right here, right now. And if anyone deserves one, you can throw all the pre-existing issues between us away. If anyone deserves one, he certainly deserves one. So, I understand, hey, a win’s a win. But that’s not how you want to do it, especially in front of a wonderful crowd like this. And if he wants one, I’m here for it.”
