Ilja Dragunov is officially the newest member of AEW. His debut took place on Saturday night during WrestleDream, held at Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida. Tony Khan confirmed the signing on his social media, right after the appearance.

Renee Paquette introduced Dragunov as the company’s most recent signing, immediately after the match for the AEW World Trios Championship. A metronome appeared on the big screen, bringing back the mystery of the promotional videos shown during the week. The lights went out and Dragunov emerged dressed in a suit, to new entrance music, receiving a strong reaction from the crowd.

Dragunov walked to the ring, interacted with the fans and returned backstage without cutting any promo or competing in a match. The appearance ended the speculation about his arrival, which had already been fed by AEW itself since Wednesday’s Dynamite/Collision.

The signing also confirms the information reported by Fightful Select on Sept. 14, when it was revealed that Dragunov was on his way to Tony Khan’s company. He had left WWE in August, after deciding not to renew his contract.

One detail is that Dragunov reached exactly six months without competing. His last match took place on April 17, when he took part in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on WWE SmackDown, won by Royce Keys.
