Jack Perry’s future in AEW has reached a key point behind the scenes.
According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Perry’s current deal is close to expiring, and he is already negotiating a new contract with Tony Khan’s promotion. As of now, no exact end date has been revealed, nor is there any known concrete interest from other companies.
Perry has been part of AEW since 2019, taking part in the first Double or Nothing during the company’s early days. Since then, he has gone through several different phases, starting as Jungle Boy before becoming “The Scapegoat” and, more recently, reconnecting with Luchasaurus in Jurassic Express.
The contract situation comes shortly after a notable stretch on AEW programming. On May 9, at AEW Collision: Fairway to Hell, Perry lost the AEW National Championship to Mark Davis after Ricochet interfered with a golf club.
A few weeks later, on the May 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, Perry was defeated by Davis again, this time in the quarterfinals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. As a result, Davis advanced to face Will Ospreay in the semifinals.
It is worth remembering that Perry has had one of the most turbulent runs in AEW’s recent history. After the incident with CM Punk at All In 2023, he was kept off television, spent time in NJPW, and returned at Dynasty 2024.
As previously reported by Wrestling Noticias, AEW also considered using Alice In Chains’ “Them Bones” as Perry’s entrance theme for that new phase, but the company ultimately went in a different direction at the time.
The question now is whether negotiations will end with Perry signing a new AEW deal or whether, for the first time since the company’s launch, he will hit the open market.
