Raj Dhesi, known for his WWE run as Jinder Mahal, believes the company left out an important part of the build for GUNTHER’s SummerSlam match against Nick Aldis.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Dhesi said WWE should have put together a video highlighting Aldis’s career before his in-ring debut with the company.
“One thing that I feel that WWE could have done is made a highlight package, highlighting his career, some of his moments, some of his in-ring action, delivering some cool moves or getting a feel of what his moves are, his signature moves are, his finisher is etc.”
The criticism carries extra weight given the direction WWE has taken with the storyline itself. During the contract signing on the latest episode of SmackDown, GUNTHER called Aldis a failed wrestler and said Aldis had never achieved his dream of becoming a WWE star.
Aldis agreed to temporarily give up his role as SmackDown General Manager to make the match happen. Adam Pearce will take over Aldis’s responsibilities while Aldis is out of the position.
SummerSlam will mark Aldis’s first match in WWE, and his first match since October 7, 2023, just days before his official introduction as General Manager.
Before joining WWE, Aldis won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and was a two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. His second reign lasted 1,043 days.
