Adam Copeland will be Kazuchika Okada’s opponent at AEW Full Gear. On Saturday’s Collision in Miami, Florida, AEW announced that Okada will defend the AEW International Championship against Copeland at the company’s next PPV.
The two have been feuding for the past few weeks. On the October 21 Dynamite, Okada interfered to cost Copeland and Will Ospreay a win against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight. After a belt shot from Okada, Fletcher hit Copeland with a brainbuster for the pin.
On Wednesday’s Blood & Guts episode of Dynamite in Jacksonville, Copeland speared Okada through a table. But after Okada and Rocky Romero chained him to the cage, Copeland gave up at Fletcher’s request to give the Don Callis Family the win.
It will be Okada and Copeland’s first one-on-one match. Copeland, who announced in October that he will retire in 2027, has never won the International title. With his final year in the ring less than two months away, he will have a chance to win his first International title.
Okada won the title for the second time on August 30 at All In: London at Wembley, where he won a triple threat match against Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita. At All Out in September, he successfully defended the title against Tommaso Ciampa.
Full Gear will take place on Saturday at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and will air on PPV through HBO Max.
