Luchasaurus continues working through a lengthy physical recovery but is targeting a return to AEW before the end of 2026.
During a recent appearance on the Knicks Film School’s KFS Spotlight, Luchasaurus revealed that he has already undergone four surgeries in 2026 alone. The procedures addressed both rotator cuffs, his left meniscus, and his right elbow, with the shoulder surgeries taking place in February and April.
Because of the time needed for his tendons to fully heal, Luchasaurus said he expects to be cleared in late October and will then start evaluating when he can realistically get back in the ring.
“That’s the good thing about where I work, I don’t feel pressured because my buddy’s got a storyline going right now. We’ll make sure it’s the right time when I can come back. When I come back, because this will be the healthiest I’ve ever been I think on TV, which is crazy. A lot of these injuries are wear and tear over the years from trying to grind on the independents.”
The shoulder injuries happened during the Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale on December 17, 2025. Luchasaurus has previously said that both shoulders gave out when he caught Ricochet for a Chokeslam off a Shelton Benjamin toss. One of his rotator cuffs had already been partially torn years earlier.
The setback marks yet another major hurdle following the serious health scare Luchasaurus dealt with in 2024, when he was hospitalized after being found unconscious and diagnosed with double pneumonia. He arrived at the hospital with oxygen levels below 80%.
Luchasaurus returned to AEW programming in 2025 and eventually reunited with Jack Perry, reforming Jurassic Express. Despite being sidelined from in-ring action this year, he has still made occasional appearances, including at Revolution, where he drove the bus Perry used ahead of his AEW National Championship win.
