Matt Hardy has once again talked about one of the most memorable elements of the Hardy Boyz’s career: the song “Loaded.”
In an interview with Ropes N Riffs, Hardy said he considers it “fundamental” for a wrestler to have a theme directly tied to their character and act in pro wrestling. In the Hardys’ case, that happened in a definitive way with “Loaded,” a song the team used during different stages of their career.
Matt pointed out that because it is a licensable song, and not a track created exclusively by WWE, the theme was able to follow them outside the company. As a result, the duo later used it in AEW and now in TNA as well.
“Normally, when you’re in WWE, they own the rights to everything, and that doesn’t go anywhere else. But it was something we were able to take to AEW. We had it there. Now we have it in TNA. So it followed us, and it really became an iconic theme for me and my brother, Jeff Hardy.”
Matt Hardy spoke about how important it is for a wrestler to have a theme that is associated with them as an act.

“I mean, it’s paramount. Having a theme that really, that fits you and becomes… associated with you as an act. I mean, that is truly paramount, and one thing we are… pic.twitter.com/QjHagPyBew
Interestingly, Matt also revealed in the same interview that “Live For The Moment,” the song that became closely associated with his solo career, was originally offered to the Hardy Boyz in 2002. The duo turned it down because they felt “Loaded” already got an immediate reaction from the crowd.
Matt and Jeff Hardy are currently still in TNA, where they lost the TNA World Tag Team Championship to The System, the team of Bear Bronson and Brian Myers, at Rebellion 2026.
