Swerve Strickland has named several AEW wrestlers who he says could become AEW World Champion in the future. Andrade, Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, and Ricochet are on the list. For the women’s division, he picked Megan Bayne.
Strickland recently shared the list in an interview with Sportskeeda and admitted that a few months ago, his answer would have been PAC.
“I had this question,” Strickland said. “A couple of months ago. I was talking to a friend and it was PAC honestly. And at the time that was like my go to answer. Instantly.
“I think we have a couple now which is good. We have Andrade. Kevin Knight. Kyle Fletcher. And I think Ricochet honestly. And on the women’s side I’ll say Megan Bayne. Easily. Yeah for sure.”
PAC passed away on September 27 at the age of 40, less than 24 hours after he lost to Andrade at All Out with the AEW National Championship on the line. One of Strickland’s picks was PAC’s final opponent.
Fletcher will be the first on the list to get a chance to prove Strickland right. He will challenge Will Ospreay for the AEW World Championship at Full Gear on Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona. Fletcher defeated Ospreay at Full Gear in 2024.
Strickland is one of 11 wrestlers to hold the AEW World title, which he won from Samoa Joe at Dynasty in 2024. None of the four men he named have held the title.
