Will Ospreay revealed that AEW president Tony Khan paid for his entire neck surgery, a major gesture during the most challenging stretch of Ospreay’s career.
Ospreay underwent a two-level cervical fusion in September 2025 after months of dealing with herniated discs that were compressing his spinal cord. The surgery kept him out of action until March, when he returned at AEW Revolution.
In a video published by AEW on YouTube, Ospreay stressed the size of Khan’s financial commitment, saying the surgery cost more than his house in England.
“Tony’s paid for the entire thing, which is crazy. I saw that bill. Oh my God, man. It costs more than my house in England.
If you pay for that for my health… I’ll be a little soldier for him for the rest of my life.”
Ospreay has previously said he seriously considered the possibility of never wrestling again. During his recovery, he spoke with Adam Copeland and Kyle O’Reilly, both of whom have dealt with serious physical issues of their own.
The surgery also forced Ospreay to adjust his in-ring style. He explained that he lost some range of motion in his neck and has permanently retired the Shooting Star Press from his moveset.
Ospreay’s recovery, however, has put him right back at the top of AEW. He is currently set to face Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship at All In: London on August 30 at Wembley Stadium.
