Cruz Montana, who debuted on the WWE main roster by attacking Roman Reigns on Monday’s Raw, was reportedly brought into The 946 by Royce Keys himself.
False Finish reports that his move up from NXT was considered a “Royce Keys decision” backstage.
It’s not the first time this has happened. In October, Keys asked WWE to add Carmelo Hayes to the group, which ended up happening on the October 12 Raw in Bossier City, Louisiana.
In comments he made at the time (via Fightful), Keys emphasized that no one is in The 946 by accident.
“We’re all on the same page and everyone in this group is handpicked,” Keys said.
Montana showed up in Monday’s main event, where Solo Sikoa defeated Keys by DQ after members of The 946 got involved. Reigns and The Usos came to the ring to make the save for Sikoa, and a brawl between The Bloodline and Keys’ group broke out around the arena.
At one point, a masked man threw a steel chair at Reigns to stop a spear and followed it up with a lariat. He then pulled off the mask and revealed himself to be Montana. Keys also hit Reigns with a spinebuster before The 946 left the ring.
Monday’s appearance was Montana’s first on the WWE main roster. That brings The 946 to six members, with Keys, Hayes, Bronco Nima, Lucien Price, Jaida Parker, and Montana now part of the group.
False Finish reported back in September that Keys was the one who picked Nima and Price.
