Vince Russo pushed back on fans who criticized Netflix after the streamer edited its replay of the September 28 episode of WWE Raw. In the on-demand version, the screen cuts to black at the moment Jacob Fatu is run over by a car driven by Jaida Parker.
On The Coach and Bro Show, Russo said he does not believe Netflix, WWE, or TKO is making these decisions without understanding the implications of their deal.
Russo took issue with comments from the Internet Wrestling Community questioning whether Netflix knew what it was getting into, asking what it thought it was buying, and accusing it of censoring the show. He described Netflix, TKO, and WWE as billion-dollar companies and had a message for anyone who believes they do not understand what they are doing at the top level.
“You don’t know what you’re doing.”
In Russo’s view, one reason the replay differs from the live broadcast is that Netflix wants viewers watching the show in real time.
“Bro, Netflix is seen in 190 different countries. The rules when it comes to censorship, when it comes to censors, country to country, it varies! What can fly and what can’t fly.”
The edit came during the closing segment of Raw. Royce Keys hit Fatu with a car door during the brawl between The Bloodline and The 946, and Parker ran Fatu over with another car right after.
After Raw went off the air, WWE released footage of Fatu being loaded into an ambulance and taken to a medical facility.
