WWE’s decision to hold the first night of AAA TripleManía 34 in Las Vegas appears to be directly tied to the company’s commercial expansion plans for Mexican lucha libre.

WWE confirmed that Night One of the event will take place on September 11 at the Luxor Hotel & Casino, while Night Two will be held two days later, on September 13, at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. This will mark the first two-night TripleManía in AAA history.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the choice of Las Vegas was not only about scheduling logistics. Meltzer said he had heard there were “business reasons” behind the decision, including sponsors and possible talks involving a TV deal for AAA.

The logic would be simple: executives, sponsors, and people involved in TV business would be willing to travel to Las Vegas, but would be far less likely to do the same for Mexico City or Monterrey.

That detail stands out because TripleManía has historically been AAA’s biggest annual event and is strongly tied to its Mexican audience. Since WWE acquired the promotion in partnership with Fillip in 2025, however, the priority has been turning the brand into a stronger product for the international market.

AAA already has a deal with FOX for Mexico, Central America, and South America, while its programming has also been airing on WWE’s YouTube channel for international viewers.

So far, no matches have been officially announced for TripleManía 34. It remains to be seen whether WWE will use the Las Vegas night only as a commercial showcase, or whether major names from its roster will also be part of the show.
