LA Knight reportedly had a short feud with Gunther scrapped after a creative shift put the Ring General directly in Cody Rhodes’ path and into the Undisputed WWE Championship picture.
According to Bodyslam.net, Knight was slated to work with Gunther after WrestleMania 42. WWE changed course, however, and moved Gunther to SmackDown, where he attacked Rhodes last Friday in Tulsa and made his interest in the blue brand’s top title clear.
That change also helps explain Knight’s absence from this week’s Monday Night RAW in Omaha, Nebraska. His creative direction has not been set, but there is no indication that he has left WWE.

Knight last wrestled at WrestleMania 42, where he teamed with The Usos to defeat IShowSpeed, Austin Theory, and Logan Paul. The win seemed to position him for a stronger follow-up on television, but the shift involving Gunther altered that path.
It remains to be seen whether WWE will quickly find a new plan for LA Knight or keep him temporarily away from its major feuds.
Gunther, meanwhile, already looks like one of the strongest names to challenge Rhodes in the coming weeks.
