WWE could be making another significant shift in its WrestleMania plans, this time involving the 2028 event.

According to the Turnbuckle Podcast, Nashville, Tennessee is now considered the frontrunner to host WrestleMania 44, overtaking Indianapolis, which had previously been seen as the favorite.

The show would be held at the new Nissan Stadium, the domed home of the Tennessee Titans that’s currently under construction and expected to open in 2027. The venue will hold approximately 60,000 fans and was recently selected to host the 2030 Super Bowl.

Nashville has already put in a $3.5 million bid, along with tax incentives, to land WrestleMania 44. The city came close to landing the 2027 show, but ultimately lost out to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

According to the new report, the backstage picture mirrors what happened with WrestleMania 41, when Minneapolis was seen as the top candidate before Las Vegas was confirmed, and with WrestleMania 42, which was originally announced for New Orleans before also being moved to Allegiant Stadium.

Indianapolis’ situation stands out because WWE officially announced a partnership with Indiana Sports Corp in June 2024 to bring the Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and WrestleMania to Lucas Oil Stadium. The Royal Rumble was held in the city in February 2025, but dates for the other two events have never been revealed.

That means a possible Nashville selection wouldn’t necessarily mean Indianapolis has lost out on the WrestleMania it was promised. The city could still land another edition down the road.
