WWE may be dealing with a new internal issue just as the road to SummerSlam gets underway.
According to WRKD Wrestling, there is a growing power struggle among some of the company’s top names, with talent reportedly trying to protect their spots at the top of WWE. The report points to competition over creative positioning, television time, major matches, and placement on premium live events.
“There is reportedly a growing power struggle going on amongst a number of top talent in-order to maintain their top spot in WWE.”
So far, no names have been directly mentioned in the report. However, WWE’s current landscape helps explain the possible tension, as the company has several major names occupying the same area of the card.
Roman Reigns is set to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, continuing a historic rivalry that has not featured a singles match since Royal Rumble 2022.

Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi are also set to face each other in a Hell in a Cell Match at the same event. The match was confirmed after Femi won King of the Ring and, at least for now, passed on his opportunity at a world title.
Another key point involves Sami Zayn, who won the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions by defeating Cody Rhodes and Gunther in a Triple Threat Match. Zayn is already set to make his first defense against Rhodes on the July 6 episode of RAW, after The American Nightmare defeated Jey Uso on the latest SmackDown.
With Reigns, Rollins, Lesnar, Femi, Rhodes, Zayn, Gunther, Jey Uso, and possibly CM Punk all positioned near the center of WWE’s top stories, the battle for prominence could become even more intense.
SummerSlam will take place on August 1 and 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
