Zilla Fatu has revealed the gifts he received from John Cena after he was invited to the John Cena Classic. In a video posted to his YouTube channel on Saturday, Fatu opened a custom briefcase for the tournament that Cena sent him.
Inside the briefcase, Fatu found a jacket with the Rise Above Hate logo, a deck of cards and a John Cena Classic watch, as well as a book with more details on how the tournament will work. Fatu said this is the first watch he has had in his life.
“And it’s a John Cena Classic watch,” Fatu said. “The first ever. And the main one got it.”
Fatu also got a letter from Cena and two gold coins with the words “Comparison is the thief of joy” and “Rise Above Hate,” two of Cena’s signature lines. According to the letter, the coins will play a role in the John Cena Classic. But Fatu didn’t say what that role is.
So far, Fatu and Cody Rhodes are the two stars confirmed for the show, and Fatu is the only one from NXT. The John Cena Classic will take place on December 14 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Florida as the second episode of RAW that day. The show will stream on Netflix. Fans will vote to determine the champion through Club WWE.
Cena is expected to announce more names for the tournament on Friday’s SmackDown in Fort Lauderdale, the November 16 RAW in Raleigh, and Survivor Series: WarGames on November 28 in Houston.
Cena invited Fatu in person on Wednesday’s NXT during a segment where he paid tribute to Umaga, Fatu’s father. Back in 2007, Cena handed Umaga his first loss in WWE at New Year’s Revolution.
