Adam Copeland is not interested in having a John Cena-style retirement tour, even as he gets closer to the end of his career.
Speaking with ClutchPoints ahead of AEW Double or Nothing, Copeland said he does not have a clear idea of what his final in-ring sendoff should look like.
The “Rated-R Superstar” noted that he already had a farewell in 2011, when he was forced to retire due to a serious neck injury. This time, though, he wants the decision to be his.
“I already had my sendoff. This time, it’ll be my choice, and that makes it a different experience entirely.”
“I don’t care if I get this big, tearful sendoff. If I wanna do that again.”
“I have no preconceived idea of what it needs to be.”
The comments come at an important point in his current AEW run. At Double or Nothing, Copeland and Christian Cage will face FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championship in a New York Street Fight “I Quit” match. If they lose, they will no longer be allowed to compete as a team.
John Cena retired in December 2025 after a major WWE farewell tour. Copeland, on the other hand, appears more willing to let Tony Khan shape the final stretch when the time comes.
