AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is only one week away, but parts of the locker room still do not appear to have full clarity on what will happen at the pay-per-view.

According to Fightful Select, several talents from AEW, NJPW, and CMLL have been asked in recent days about their status for the event, but some of them still have not received any confirmation about possible matches or appearances.

“As of this week’s AEW Dynamite, Fightful Select spoke to a number of talent across AEW, NJPW, and CMLL who said some of them haven’t been told what their plans are, if any, for Forbidden Door. Some talent have said this isn’t out of the ordinary, and they’ll find out their matches the week of the show. AEW sources indicated plans were being held close to the vest for the show.”

The event is scheduled for next Sunday, June 28, at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.

Despite the reported uncertainty among part of the roster, several major matches have already been confirmed for the card. Those include Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland in the men’s Owen Hart Cup final, Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr., Thekla vs. Starlight Kid for the AEW Women’s World Championship, and a Steel Cage Match involving Mark Briscoe’s team and MJF’s team.

AEW has also recently confirmed The Young Bucks vs. Sky Team (Místico and Máscara Dorada) vs. Unbound Co. (Shingo Takagi and Titan) in a 3-Way Tag Team Match. The Buy-In will also feature The Divine Dominion defending the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship against Thunder Rosa and Olympia.

Another factor that may have affected some of the plans is Gabe Kidd. He had been set for a major role at Forbidden Door before suffering an injury, though he recently returned in NJPW by attacking Shota Umino.

In other words, even with an already loaded card, the final build to the show still appears to involve pieces being put into place in the closing days. The question now is whether that is simply AEW’s usual approach or whether it will lead to last-minute changes at the event.
