CM Punk is confirmed for Worlds Collide, but WWE has yet to announce his match.
The WWE/NXT/AAA Worlds Collide event takes place September 26 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. As of now, WWE has not officially announced who the Undisputed WWE Champion will face on the show.
The most-teased opponent so far is AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio.
At the WWE and Mattel panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Punk raised the idea directly with AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio. Punk asked:
“AAA has a show coming up in Chicago, right?”
Mysterio answered:
“Yes, they do.” Punk followed up, “So… does Dominik need an opponent?” Mysterio replied, “Why… yes, he does.”
The idea picked up more steam recently. During AAA Ola de Calor, WWE aired a Worlds Collide promo featuring Punk that showed the mask he wore during the Straight Edge Society era in 2010.
There is one thing to sort out before any announcement, though. Dominik is set to defend the AAA Mega Championship against El Grande Americano on night two of TriplemanÃa 34 on September 13 at Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
A Punk vs. Dominik match for the AAA Mega Championship would depend on the outcome of that title defense.
