Jake Roberts is no longer part of AEW. The WWE Hall of Famer revealed his departure in a recent interview with Bill Apter, ending a run that began during the early years of Tony Khan’s company.

Asked what it was like working for Khan, Roberts made it clear that the relationship ended on good terms, with no public criticism of the company.

“Loved it [working for AEW]. Loved it. I just finished up working for him [Tony Khan]. I’m no longer employed by AEW… [Tony Khan] is awesome. He really is. A breath of fresh air.”

Roberts joined AEW in 2019, during the company’s early period, and became more prominently featured the following year when he was introduced as Lance Archer’s mentor. The partnership helped Archer gain momentum quickly, especially during the tournament to crown the inaugural AEW TNT Champion.

Over time, however, Roberts’ appearances became increasingly rare. In addition to his role alongside Archer, Roberts was also linked to La Facción Ingobernable and worked behind the scenes as one of the special advisors for AEW Together, the company’s community arm.

In the same interview, Roberts also indicated that he has not been following much pro-wrestling over the past year, saying his focus has been on his family and his classic cars.

As of now, Roberts has not revealed exactly when his contract ended or whether there are any plans for him to return to wrestling in another role.
