Add as a preferred source on Google Jack Perry will remain part of the AEW roster, ending recent rumors about a possible exit from the company.
During Wednesday’s July 8 episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW aired a video confirming that Perry has signed a new contract. The video featured Perry reflecting on his AEW run and making it clear he was not going anywhere.
His status had drawn plenty of attention in recent weeks. One day before the show, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer reported that Perry still had not signed a new deal and that his contract was very close to expiring.
Tony Khan had already addressed the subject during the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door media call. At the time, the AEW president said the plan was to keep Perry with the company for a long time, while also praising him both as a wrestler and as a creative mind.
“The plan for AEW and Jack is for Jack to be here for a long time. I have believed that Jack is a great wrestler for many years and I continue to feel that way. I like Jack very much, personally. He has a very bright future in wrestling and a great mind for wrestling. It’s been really gratifying for me and fans (to see) the return of Jungle Jack Perry and seeing fans embrace Jack and the great matches he’s been having. The plan is for Jack Perry to be in AEW for a long time, so that’s going to happen.”
Perry has been with AEW since the company’s launch and has filled several roles over the years. During his run, he has won the AEW World Tag Team Championship, the TNT Championship, the FTW Championship and, most recently, the AEW National Championship.
