JBL revealed that he is interested in being a part of WWE creative but completely ruled out returning to a backstage role as an agent.
On the Something to Wrestle podcast, a fan recently asked JBL if he would take a role in WWE creative or as an agent, and his answer was clear.
“Not an agent, no,” JBL said. “Good lord, no. Hell no. Creative, yeah.”
But JBL noted that, at this point, “it hasn’t been offered, and there’s no talk of it.”
While he likes talking about matches, JBL said agents now have to “outline stuff from A to Z” for the talent, which he never did for his matches. He believes it comes down to the younger generation not being “used to working on the road like we did.”
JBL also addressed reports that Vince Russo had talks with WWE this year and said he thinks he is more likely than Russo to join WWE creative, though he would “bet on neither.”
“I think I’d have a better chance than Vince,” JBL said.
JBL had a run as a WWE agent, but it lasted just six weeks. He left shortly after working on a Sami Zayn match to stick to commentary.
Since January, JBL has served as an English commentator for AAA, so he already works for a promotion that WWE acquired in 2025.
