It was no surprise to people backstage that the Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) left WWE.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted that even before it was confirmed, there was a strong belief within WWE that the brothers would be gone from the company after the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Alvarez added that he heard people in WWE were “kinda, like, not really surprised” by the outcome.

On Friday, Julius and Brutus were moved to the alumni section of WWE’s website. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select then confirmed that their contracts expired rather than the two being released. It appears that it was a mutual decision.

The Creed Brothers’ last WWE match was on the October 20 edition of NXT, where Hank Walker and Tank Ledger defeated them in a tournament match. Julius and Brutus won the tournament in 2022. The two were moved to the alumni section just 17 days later.

On September 1, Julius and Brutus returned to NXT. Before that, their last match on the main roster was in May. They only appeared on WWE Main Event and in AAA, at times as the masked Julio Creedo and Bruto Creedo in the El Grande Americano storyline.

As of this writing, neither WWE nor Julius and Brutus have addressed the situation.

The news came exactly three years after Julius and Brutus officially joined the Raw roster on November 6, 2023.
