The John Cena Classic appears to have moved beyond the planning stages. John Cena revealed that WWE has locked in all the details for the event but said he can’t share them publicly just yet.
Cena provided the update during John Cena Live last Sunday at Fan Expo Canada, held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto.
Asked about the event, Cena said WWE has asked him to keep the specifics under wraps until the official announcement.
“As far as the John Cena Classic goes, I can’t say nothing right now. I don’t want to leave you without an answer. Normally, I want to say, ‘We’re figuring out the details.’ I’ll say this. We have all the details. You just gotta hang in there with me because they want me to keep it a secret until it’s time to say it. But we got a lot of information I’m gonna dump on you. It just ain’t gonna be today. I’m very excited about it. I really am. I really am excited.”

The concept features Raw and SmackDown talent going up against NXT competitors, with fans playing a role in selecting the John Cena Classic Champion. Even a wrestler who loses their match can still receive votes and walk away as champion.
Cena has previously described the event as WWE’s version of an “All-Star Game” and said he would like to personally invite the participants, hold a formal unveiling of the matchups, and introduce a new championship.
No date has been officially confirmed.
