Leon Slater defeated Nic Nemeth to win the TNA World Championship in the main event of Bound for Glory on Sunday. Slater hit a Swanton 450 for the pinfall, ending Nemeth’s reign.
Late in the match, Nemeth survived the first Swanton 450 and hit the Danger Zone, but Slater kicked out. Slater came back with a Blue Thunder Bomb and went after Nemeth on the floor, then brought him back into the ring and hit the Swanton 450 for the win.
At 22, Slater becomes the youngest TNA World Champion ever. He vacated the TNA X-Division Championship when he invoked Option C at Lockdown, which set up Sunday’s match with Nemeth.
The loss ended Nemeth’s second reign, which began when he defeated Mike Santana at Slammiversary. Nic Nemeth still holds the TNA World Tag Team Championship with Ryan Nemeth.
Bound for Glory took place on Sunday, October 11, at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.
